Prof. WAN Xiangyuan’s Group Makes Great Progress in Plant Development Theory Research
Recently, Prof. WAN Xiangyuan’s group reported great progress in their research on lipid metabolism-related genes and the reproductive development of plants (picture 1). Their results were published online in Molecular Plant, a sub-journal of Cell, on May 17th, 2020.
Additionally, Prof. WAN Xiangyuan’s group from USTB cooperated with research scientists Prof. ZHANG Jinsong and Prof. CHEN Shouyi from the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Science, to find a new ethylene signal transmission pathway in rice roots (picture 2), which provides a new theoretical support for genetically improving the crop’s adaptive responses to water saturated environments. Their research results were recently published in the Nature sub-journal Nature Communications.
Since the establishment of the Biology and Agriculture Research Center, USTB, in December 2016, USTB has assembled outstanding talents with the support of the university who have already reported a number of notable achievements. The Center has published more than 30 academic papers in internationally renowned journals including Nature Communications, Molecular Plant, PNAS, Plant Cell, and Plant Biotechnology Journal.
